Toss Deccan Chargers chose to bat v Mumbai Indians
Kumar Sangakkara flew to India straight after the Test series at home against England to take over the leadership of Deccan Chargers, and he got off to a winning start at the toss, giving his batsmen first use of the pitch. The Chargers were made to chase 194 in their previous game, at the same venue, but were overpowered by 74 runs against Chennai Super Kings.
The Chargers left out the Australian Daniel Harris to accommodate Sangakkara. Anand Rajan, the right-arm seamer from Madhya Pradesh, replaced Manpreet Gony. They also left out the seamer TP Sudhindra for the more experienced legspinner Amit Mishra.
Sachin Tendulkar continued to sit out for Mumbai Indians as he hadn't yet recovered from his finger injury. They made one change, leaving out Suryakumar Yadav for T Suman, who's likely to open the batting with Richard Levi.
Deccan Chargers: 1 Parthiv Patel, 2 Shikhar Dhawan, 3 Kumar Sangakkara (capt and wk), 4 Bharat Chipli, 5 Cameron White, 6 Daniel Christian, 7 DB Ravi Teja, 8 Amit Mishra, 9 Ankit Sharma, 10 Dale Steyn, 11 Anand Rajan
