Mumbai Indians chose to field v Chennai Super Kings
On a surprisingly green Chennai pitch, Harbhajan Singh won the toss and inserted hosts and defending champions Chennai Super Kings in the opening match of the IPL's fifth season. As expected, Mumbai handed an IPL debut to the big-hitting South African Richard Levi, but left out their successful seamer Munaf Patel, going instead with Abu Nechim. Pragyan Ojha got a chance to play his first game for Mumbai. The new names for Super Kings were Faff du Plessis and Ravindra Jadeja.
