Team India after experiencing the highs and lows of the nail biting thriller between Australia and Sri Lanka, were quite disappointed with the outcome as they crashed out of the tournament after Lankans got a berth to the finals admitted that Lankans deserved a place in the tri-series finals.
"After Sri Lanka were restricted to a fighting total, we had this feeling that Australia may go on to win comfortably. But then, Sri Lanka displayed true grit and character to snatch victory.
Honestly, we are a bit disappointed. But Sri Lanka deserve to be in the finals," remarked a senior player soon after the Sri Lanka-Australia match.
"It was a see-saw affair and we felt that Australia may just pull it off in the end, but it just didn't happen. It's disappointing, but that's how the game goes. We need to head home now," said a younger player of the Indian cricket team.
This further means, Team India will board the flight on Saturday noon and reach Mumbai via Singapore.
Did Team India foresee their future as they skipped their practice sessions and rested for two days after their emphatic 7 wicket win over Sri Lanka on Tuesday, else did they think people would laugh at the team if they practised and finally crash out of the tournament.
"A team which knocks down Australia three times on the trot has to be in the final," said another Indian player.
Team India did defend their stand, as one of the players made suggested that the team gets time off cricket and spend some valuable time with family and friends before heading to Bangladesh for AsiaCup that is scheduled to start from Mar 11, 2012.
